Recreational Pilot Permit
The Recreational Pilot Permit is an entry-level certificate allowing flight within Canada in a single-engine aircraft under daytime VFR conditions. It requires fewer hours than a PPL and is ideal for pilots who fly for leisure close to home.
Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
The Private Pilot Licence allows you to fly single-engine aircraft in Canada for personal and recreational purposes. Training covers airmanship, navigation, meteorology, and flight manoeuvres, culminating in a Transport Canada written exam and flight test.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
The Commercial Pilot Licence qualifies you to be paid to fly aircraft in Canada. Building on PPL fundamentals, CPL training develops precision flying skills, advanced navigation, and the aeronautical knowledge required by Transport Canada for commercial operations.
Night Rating
The Night Rating permits flight operations after dark under VFR conditions. Training covers night navigation, lighting systems, physiological effects of night flying, and the additional judgment required when operating without natural daylight reference.
Instrument Rating (IFR)
The Group 1 Instrument Rating authorizes flight in instrument meteorological conditions in both single and multi-engine aircraft. Training develops precision navigation using cockpit instruments, IFR procedures, and approach techniques required for professional aviation operations.
Multi-Engine Rating
The Multi-Engine Rating authorizes flight in aircraft with more than one engine. Training focuses on the unique handling characteristics of multi-engine aircraft, asymmetric thrust procedures, and engine-failure emergencies critical to safe commercial operations.
Flight Instructor Rating
The Flight Instructor Rating qualifies pilots to teach others to fly under Transport Canada regulations. Instructor training develops lesson planning, airmanship coaching, and the ability to safely demonstrate and correct student errors in the aircraft.
VFR Over-The-Top
The VFR Over-The-Top Rating allows pilots to fly above a cloud layer in VMC while transiting instrument conditions below. It bridges the gap between basic VFR and a full instrument rating for cross-country navigation.
